Learn to Knit

Meets 5 Tuesdays:  May 23 and June 6, 13, 20 and 27, 6-8pm  

Meets 5 Saturdays:  July 22, 29 and August 5, 12 and 19, 10am-noon

In this class, you will learn to knit, purl, cast on and bind off, follow a pattern, finish and block a scarf. We make the Diagonal Block Scarf by Norah Gaughan. This pattern looks harder than it is and helps to build confident knitters! Max enrollment: 6.  Prerequisite: None.  $65 includes handouts.  10% off project yarn and needles for class project.

Beginner Spinning

Meets 4 Wednesdays:  May 31 and June 7, 14 and 21, 6-8pm with Patty Blomgren

Learn the basics of spinning and plying with seasoned spinning teacher Patty Blomgren.  Price includes use of wheel, which participants can take home for practice between sessions, and materials.  Max enrollment: 8.  Prerequisite: None.  $180 includes wheel use and fiber.  Patty Blomgren is an expert spinner who has taught spinning for years all around the east including at Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival and New York Sheep and Wool Festival (Rhinebeck).

Intro to Crochet

Meets 2 times: Saturday, May 27 and June 3, 10 am to Noon

Learn the basics of crochet.  The first morning, we will go over the basic stitches and variations on them.  The second class, we will make a simple granny square and learn some edgings that can be applied to crochet, knits or fabric.  Max enrollment: 6. Prerequisite: none. $45  for class, includes handouts and a ball of yarn and crochet hook


Meets 4 times:  Tuesdays, July 18, 25 and August 9 and 15, 6-8pm                            
Make a basic sock!  We work in the round on double pointed needles, turn heals, make gussets and finish toes.  Learn the Kitchener stitch.  Prerequisite:  Ability to knit and purl.  $60 includes handouts.  Maximum number of students: 6.  Participants receive 10% off yarn for class.


Preregistration is required for all classes. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the beginning of class will not be refunded.  While you can bring some of the supplies needed for class, please check with us first to make sure that they are appropriate for the project.
