Intro to Crochet

Meets 2 times: Saturday, October 8 and 15, 10 am to Noon                                                                     Learn the basics of crochet.  The first night, we will go over the basic stitches and variations on them.  The second night, we will make a simple granny square and learn some edgings that can be applied to crochet, knits or fabric.  Max enrollment: 6. Prerequisite: none. $45  for class, includes handouts and a ball of yarn and crochet hook

Brioche Knitting

Meets 3 tmes:  Tuesdays, October 11, 18 and 25, 6-8pm                                                                            
In this class, we will learn the basics of Brioche, a ribbed stitch that adds dimension and warmth to knitting.  When done in two colors, it makes a positive/negative two sided fabric.  Pick an easy cowl, more complicated cowl or shawl.  Great for gifts!  Prerequisite:  Ability to knit and purl.  $45 includes choice of 3 patterns and handouts.  Maximum number of students: 6.  Participants receive 10% off yarn for class.

Fixing Mistakes in Knitting

Meets once:  Saturday, October 22, 10am-noon
Learn to pickup dropped stitches in any pattern and easy ways to rip out without making a bigger mess.  Learn how to fix errant pattern stitches without ripping out. Homework swatches need to be finished at the start of class.  Prerequisite:  Ability to Knit and Purl.  $20 includes handouts. Maximum class size: 6

Custom Fit/Knit a Better Sweater KAL  Now with Shapes for Men and Children, as well as Women!Knitting-needles-&-yarn

Starts Saturday October 8 and meets until December 3, Noon-1:30pm 
Custom Fit is a program to make sweaters that fit you, the way you want them and at your gauge.  We take copious measurements, pick yarn, go home and make a swatch you like, wash and dry it.  Then the following Saturday, we enter the swatch stats in the program, along with the desired style, and out pops a pattern with the perfect fit!  The following Saturdays we will meet and knit, discussing any problems, stitches and finishing necessary to make a sweat that fits, whether it’s your first or more!  Prerequisite:  Ability to Knit and Purl.  $45 includes measuring and your first Custom Fit Pattern, plus 10% off yarn for KAL.

Socks!

Meets 4 times:  Wednesdays, October 19and 26 and November 2 and 9, 6-8pm                            
Make a basic sock!  We work in the round on double pointed needles, turn heals, make gussets and finish toes.  Learn the Kitchener stitch.  Prerequisite:  Ability to knit and purl.  $55 includes handouts.  Maximum number of students: 6.  Participants receive 10% off yarn for class.

Fair Isle Hats

Meets 3 times:  Sunday, November 6, 13 and 20, Noon-2pm                                                                  
Learn stranded knitting to create multi colored patterns!  Topics covered include knitting in the round, different ways to manage two balls of yarn at the same time, tessellation and repeats, basic color theory.  Makes a great gift!  Prerequisite:  Ability to knit and purl.  $45 includes handouts.  Maximum number of students: 6.  Participants receive 10% off yarn for class.

Learn to Knit

Meets 5 Sundays:  5 Tuesdays:  November 15, 22 and 29 and December 6 and 13, 6-8pm

In this class, you will learn to knit, purl, cast on and bind off, follow a pattern, finish and block a scarf. We make the Diagonal Block Scarf by Norah Gaughan. This pattern looks harder than it is and helps to build confident knitters! Max enrollment: 6.  Prerequisite: None.  $60 includes handouts.  10% off project yarn and needles for class project.

Finishing

Meets once:  Wednesday December 7, 6-8pm
Get a professional finish to your knits or crochet by learning how to block, sew parts together and pick up stitches for collars, button bands and more.  Prerequisite:  Ability to knit or crochet.  $20 includes handouts.  Maximum number of students: 6.

Scarf in a Day-Nuno Felting

Meets once:  Saturday, December 10, 10am-3pm                                                                                        
Learn to felt fiber together to make a scarf!  We compose our scarf in layers with wool and fabric, roll it up and felt using pool noodles, plastic, hot water, soap and felting needles as necessary.  You leave with a scarf!  Quick and easy!  Makes a great gift!  Prerequisite:  None.  $55 includes some decorative materials, cloth and handouts.  Maximum number of students: 3.  Participants receive 10% off additional fiber for class.

Scarf in a Day-Weaving on the Rigid Heddle Loom

Meets once:  Saturday December 17, 10am-5pm
Learn basic weaving to make a scarf!  We prepare the loom by warping in the morning, break for lunch and weave all afternoon.  You leave with a scarf!  Quick and easy!  Makes a great gift!  Prerequisite:  None.  $45 includes use of looms and handouts.  Maximum number of students: 3.  Participants receive 10% off yarn for class.

 

 

Preregistration is required for all classes. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the beginning of class will not be refunded.  While you can bring some of the supplies needed for class, please check with us first to make sure that they are appropriate for the project.
